Details |
Shadow Mist is one of the active aggressive skills, which main character Jonathan E. Reid can unlock in Vampyr.
Skill Description[ | ]
“ | They think they can challenge us with their tools, but no one can defeat the shadows... | „ |
The Vampire concentrates shadows around their prey to make them explode after a countdown.
This explosion will injure anything in range, with needle-like living spears.
Vampires often use this ability to wipe out groups of enemies from a distance.

Skill Synergies:
- Blood Capacity (More blood means that Jonathan can use Shadow Mist more often.)
- Coagulation (Freeze an enemy, leaving them vulnerable.)
- Spring (Teleport into range to use Shadow Mist under Jonathan.)
Weapon Synergies:
- Knives/Daggers (Drain Blood quickly.)
- Stakes (Stun an enemy, positioning them for a Shadow Mist.)
- Firearms (Stun an enemy at range to keep them in place.)
Out of the three basic Aggressive skills, Shadow Mist represents Shadow damage. It is perhaps the most complicated of the three to use effectively, as it requires proper positioning. After a short delay, the location either under Jonathan (if no target is locked) or beneath an opponent (if target locked) explodes with a heavy amount of damage.
Blood Capacity and Big Thirst are both useful investments to allow more uses of Shadow Mist. However, keep in mind these cost XP while a blood-drawing weapon does not, and that even the starter weapon Hacksaw allows you to rapidly regain blood while dealing major damage. Coagulation and Spring can be useful for positioning.
Whilst they are not mutually exclusive, Shadow Mist deals more damage than Claws or Bloodspear, can work at any range and costs the least amount of blood, offset only by its slightly increased cooldown. As a result, if the player can land Shadow Mist consistently it is the most powerful of the three when upgraded for raw damage. To make the most of this build, choose the Blood Couldron ultimate to add Blood damage to your arsenal (both are AoE, allowing you to destroy groups easily, while ultimates do not cost blood).
Additionally, the lower upgrade path turns this ability into a blood drawing option to feed other abilities, along with decent damage.
